Hemlock Directional was founded in 1994 as one of New England's first directional drilling companies. Ken had heard about the work being done with directional drilling, but until this point directional drilling was only being performed in the South. No one was willing to attempt directional drilling in the more aggressive soils of New England. With some extensive research, and the advancements in the technology, Ken decided it was time to put directional drilling to the test in New England. It took some time for the idea of trenchless technology to take hold in the Northeast, but the business has grown steadily every year since its inception. 

Hemlock Directional Boring, Inc. has successfully completed projects from as far north as Bangor, Maine and as far south as Charlottesville, VA. The majority of the work completed by HDB has been in the Southern New England area and New York. 

As a full service contractor we employ a multitude of installation technologies including open cut trenching, pipe bursting, slip lining, jacking, horizontal auger boring and horizontal directional boring. Our primary function is directional boring but we also own and operate trenchers, moles, backhoes and other specialized equipment needed to complete many different types of projects. 

HDB can help in project development and in assisting owners to provide a successful and cost effective completed project. HDB maintains certification in all the states where work is performed.  While the primary office is in Torrington, CT, there is also a satellite office in West Dennis, MA.
